Lori Guin

Lori Guin "Mawz" entered eternal life March 13, 2024 at the age of 61 after a short but fierce battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Luther "Gip" Guin; parents, Barbara and Charles Ballas; daughter, Maitlyn Hughes (Anthony); and one and only granddaughter, Oaklynn Hughes. She is proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Antoine and Adeline Alario.

Lori attended L.W. Higgins High School and graduated with the class of 1980. She retired from the City of Westwego as the Historical Museum Curator after 20 dedicated years of service. After retirement, she spent much of her time at the Bridge City Senior Center as well as visiting with her daughter and granddaughter, whom she loved dearly. She was more than the awful disease that took her life. Lori was a daughter, granddaughter, mother, wife, grandmother, friend and more. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was the kindest soul and a friend to everyone. 

Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral mass at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Westwego at 11:00am on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Celebration of Life Reception to follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Auditorium from 12:00pm till 3:00pm, with a ballon release at 2:00pm.
