Linda Sue Koontz Townsend passed away on April 4, 2017 from Alzheimer's Disease. She was 79. She was born in Charleston, West Virginia, April 3, 1938. At an early age her family moved to Sanford, Florida. It was there she met and married the love of her life. He was a young good looking sailor named Charles Joseph Townsend. For the next 56 years they traveled and moved around the United States. She loved the life God had given her. She was a proud military wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother. She loved children. While living in Dallas, they became foster parents to several kids. When they moved to Harvey, Louisiana, she opened a home day care. For over 20 years she took care of little ones. Then they moved to Lillian, Alabama and retired. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Joseph Townsend, and two brothers, Robert J. Koontz and Cecil G. Koontz. She is survived by two sisters Reba J. Martin (Ed) and Barbara J. Stewart, one brother, Carrol J. Koontz (Candy), and six children, Tammy C. DuBuc (Clyde), Charles J. Townsend (Brandy), Marie A. Patron (Guy), Michael S. Townsend, Robert C. Townsend (Leah) and Chad A. Townsend, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many, many nephews and nieces. And we can't forget her loving dog, the one and only, Dutchess. She will be forever in our hearts because love is what she taught us and love is what we learned.
