Lillian Roth McCloskey, affectionately known as "Lil," passed away in her hometown of New Orleans, LA, on June 12, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on April 20, 1942, Lil's life was a tapestry woven with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
Lil dedicated a significant part of her professional journey to the medical field, working as a Medical Transcriptionist for West Jefferson Hospital and Rehab Unit. She later transitioned her career to Hollywood Casino, where her vibrant personality and work ethic shone brightly.
Her family will fondly remember her witty sense of humor, which never failed to bring joy and laughter to those around her. Though she often shied away from the kitchen, Lil mastered three delightful dishes that brought her family together: spaghetti, red beans and rice, and barbecued shrimp. These meals will forever remain a delicious symbol of her nurturing spirit.
In her earlier years, Lil embraced adventures as a scuba diver and golf player. In her later life, she found joy in simpler pastimes, indulging in darts and becoming an avid reader. She deeply loved her time in Bay St. Louis, MS, where she formed enduring friendships and created lasting memories with her family.
Lil is survived by her beloved daughter, Kim Edkins Brooks; her son, Shane Christopher Edkins; her granddaughters, Samantha Brooks Carter and Kayla Gibson; her grandsons, Kyle Edkins; and Gabriel Edkins, great grandsons, Levi Zachary Favre, Cole Joseph Favre, and Sawyer Brooks Carter. She is also remembered by her son-in-law, Stanley Jay Brooks.
Lil now joins her dearly departed family members, including her mother, Luana Brouillette Roth, her father, Joseph Earl Roth, and her daughter, Emily Edkins Michel.
As we remember Lillian Roth McCloskey, we celebrate a life well-lived — one filled with laughter, love, and enduring connections. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
