Leroy Paul Cavalier

Leroy Paul Cavalier, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 77. He lived an extraordinary life filled with family, friendship, love, and laughter.

Leroy was born on May 29, 1949, in Napoleonville, Louisiana, and was raised in the Westwego-Marrero area, where he proudly resided all his life. He attended West Jefferson High School before being drafted to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he worked in the oil and gas industry as a pipefitter before opening his own business, "The Prep Shop," bringing his talent and dedication to the auto detailing industry on the Westbank. Leroy was laid back yet famously stubborn. He was a tremendous storyteller and jokester, with a rare gift for making everyone laugh. A true character, he made life infinitely more interesting for everyone around him. He truly enjoyed being outdoors, grilling, boiling seafood, and listening to the radio—often grabbing his beloved Lisa by the hand to dance to the oldies. His greatest legacy is not the jobs he held or the business he built, but the people he loved and the countless lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his children, Dana and Daniel (Trisha), whom he shared with his late former wife, Sandra; and his stepchildren, Christina (Thomas), Hollie, Amie, David, and Kasie, whom he loved and raised as his own.

He is the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren: Kyle, Jena, Haley, Sayde (Jared), Carley, Destiny (Jake), Savannah, Hayden, Calix, Zayne, Kadence, Collin, Gauge, and Layla; and 5 great-grandchildren: Pallas, Elijah, Gianna, Grayson, and Sofia. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Irvin Jr., Kenneth, Mark, Lenny, and sisters-in-law Denise and Jean, alongside a host of nieces, nephews, countless friends and loved ones. Leroy was reunited in heaven with his parents, the late Gilbert Cavalier and the late Amie Cavalier; his beloved brother, the late Claude Cavalier; his late son-in-law, Gerald (Jerry) Burkart; and his late brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Clinton, Chris, and Michelle. He will be deeply missed and definitely never forgotten.Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 10am. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6pm until 8pm and again on Friday morning from 9am until 10am. Interment, Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.
