Lawrence Joseph Dufrene Jr., aged 80, of Paradis, Louisiana passed away on December 26, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones at his home. While this fills us with deep sorrow, we are comforted that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Lawrence or as friends called him, L.J., was born on June 6, 1945 in Paradis, Louisiana where he resided all of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. L.J. was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Joseph Dufrene Sr. and Eunice Estay Dufrene; brother Ellious Dufrene; sisters Geraldine Noto, Sandra Mazariegos, and Nora Lee Peyregne; and son Jacob Michael Dufrene, Sr. L.J. was survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marie Sally Dufrene; three daughters Sheila Dufrene (Patrick), Terri Dufrene (Murray), and Pebbles Johnson (Ken); daughter in law Dana Dufrene; grandchildren Ashley Bissonnette (Brad), Angelle Meibaum (Nicholas), Chelsey Salpietra (Trace), Bryleigh Dufrene, Courtney Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Alexus Johnson, Jacob Dufrene Jr.(Erin), Luke Bergeron (Kaitlyn), and Zack Bergeron; and great grandchildren Isla Bissonnette, Elliana Salpietra, Hunter Johnson Jr., Masdyn Johnson, and Ayla Bergeron. Through his time at Hahnville High School L.J. played varsity football and wrestling until his graduation. He began his employment at the grain elevators for five years and then continued for the next 24 years as a tankerman at Union Carbide where he eventually retired. L.J. was an avid outdoorsman who made many memories fishing, wrestling alligators, and hunting deer. He loved sports, especially football and softball. He was his family’s biggest fan. L.J. will be deeply missed but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at God’s House, 7301 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 9:30AM until 12PM. Funeral Services will take place at the church on Saturday at 12PM. Burial will be in St. Charles Mausoleum, Paul Maillard Road, Luling, Louisiana.
