Laura Relle Wolfe

A lifelong resident of Gretna, LA for 94 years passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 1, 2026 at her home. She was a resident of Garden Park Subdivision for 60 years.

Survived by her six children Sheila Wolfe, Charlene Wolfe, Robert Wolfe (Debbie), Pam Pecquet (Bobby), John Wolfe, and Tina Daigle (Kevin,) as well as seven grandchildren, Jacob Wolfe (Shelby), Ryan Wolfe (Mallary), Jason Wolfe (Sarah), Josh Daigle, Kelly Daigle Maggio (Samuel), Connor Wolfe (Bryanne), and Natalie Wolfe. And nine great grandchildren, Emma, Leo, Lily, Luke and Lizzy Wolfe, Zion, Magnolia, Koa and Olive Maggio and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Rose Relle and her siblings Joe Relle, Rosemary Fedele and Sal Relle, as well as her husband M. Leon Wolfe. 

She and her husband, Leon Wolfe, built a life together as longtime entrepreneurs in Gretna of Fastway Food Store and Christmas Trees. They became known and trusted fixtures of the community that served generations in Gretna. She lived a life so richly woven into the lives of others that to know her family was to know her personally. 

Anyone who crossed her path — a grandchild’s friend, a new neighbor, a stranger in need of a ride — found themselves quietly, permanently adopted into her heart. If her life had one guiding theme it was that she was loving of her family and her family didn’t stop with blood.

Her passion for the safety and wellbeing of her community was fierce and well known. She was civic-minded to her core, and if an issue threatened her community or its children, she wouldn’t hesitate to call an elected official and give them a piece of her mind. That love for community earned her the title of “Mayor of Garden Park” and as those who knew her best would say — when she put on her red blazer, she meant business.

She had a gift for wisdom, and an uncanny wit to go with it. Family and friends were drawn to her and confided in her as they enjoyed long conversations on the sofa or at her kitchen table. She never hesitated to offer her own unique perspective on life and delivered it with a sharpness and humor that made her insight impossible to forget. 

Laura had a way of making everyone in her presence feel special and possessed an uncanny sense of knowing exactly what a person needed to hear.Her door was always open, as was her heart. She was a woman of endless service and fed everyone who stepped into her home with food and love in equal measure.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Churh, 610 6th St., in Gretna, LA on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 11AM. Visitation will begin at 9:30AM. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., in Gretna, LA.
