Judy LeBlanc Helmer

Judy LeBlanc Helmer, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026 at the age of 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Irvin T. Helmer, Sr. Loving mother of Denise Helmer, Michael J. Helmer (Rachel), and the late Irvin T. “Boo” Helmer, Jr. Grandmother of Jared M. Helmer (Leah) and Cambri L. Helmer. (Kameron). Great-grandmother of Maci Helmer and Dennis Maddox. Daughter of the late Elsner “Coon” LeBlanc and Edna Camardelle Crifasi. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Carolee Helmer Dufrene (Armond) along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Judy was a lifelong resident of Westwego, LA and a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. She was active in the Westwego Senior Center, her Pokeno group for over 60 years, loved to cook and adopted the name “Gumbo Granny” for her signature gumbo. She was everyone’s caretaker but most of all, was devoted to her loving family. She will be sadly missed.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Avenue A at Fourth Street in Westwego on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 10 AM to 12 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
