Joyce Rogers Touro

July 7, 1941 — August 2, 2025

Harvey

Joyce Rogers Touro, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and longtime resident of Gretna, Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on August 2, 2025, at the age of 84 in Harvey, Louisiana.

Born on July 7, 1941, in Raceland, Louisiana to the late Harry Rogers and Philonese Gautreaux, Joyce lived a life full of love, faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jesse J. Touro Sr., and together they raised two sons whom they loved dearly, Jesse Touro Jr. (Tricia) and Chris Touro (Hillary).

Joyce took pride in her role as a homemaker and later worked as a caregiver, offering comfort and compassion to one of her dear friends. Her true joy, however, came from the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her grandchildren Hannah (Rebecca), Nelson (Christina), Kaleah (James), Gabrielle, and Alexander; and her great-grandchildren Rylen, Nolan, Adilynn, Bailynn, and Leonardo, all of whom were the light of her life.

She was one of five siblings and is preceded in death by Junious Rogers (Delores), Gladys Rogers Dugas (Alvin), and Helen Rogers LeBlanc (John Charles). She is survived by her brother, Roy Rogers (Janice).

A faithful and longtime member of St. Cletus Catholic Church, Joyce was deeply rooted in her spiritual community. She was active in various Bible study groups and exemplified the values of her Catholic faith throughout her life.

Joyce was known for her vibrant personality — loud, loving, and full of life. She never hesitated to speak her mind, made everyone laugh, and could always sniff out a good deal while shopping. Her presence brought warmth and energy wherever she went.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the hospice team who provided Joyce with care and dignity in her final days, with special thanks to her nurse, Brooke Zeringue, for her unwavering compassion, support, and kindness. Sincere thanks are also extended to the many family members and friends who lovingly supported her over the past several years — by bringing meals, sitting with her, and simply sharing conversation and laughter. Your presence made all the difference.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA, on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
