Joy was born in Gretna, Louisiana to Mildred and Joesph Sisung. She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph, and her sisters Lois and Shirley.
She is survived by her sister Gail, and brothers: Dennis (Shirley), Gerald, and Bernard, and her four Children: Margie (Jody), Ralph (Kim), Bert, and their caboose Karen (Jerry).
Joy also has eight grandchildren who have given her eighteen great-grandchildren. Joy created an oasis for her family removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. She spent so much of her days watching the birds in her yard, her favorites being hummingbirds and cardinals. The Hummingbird became a symbol for Joy to her family. She also had a love of gardening and flowers. Zinnias being one of her absolute favorites along with the irises that bloom each year near her pond. Joy was so happy to have her children so close and she truly loved them. Having the great grandchildren coming in and out of her house as they pleased certainly kept her young. She loved to play Skip-bo and Tri-Ominos with the big and the little kids. Her biggest achievement has certainly been her Sunday dinners. Joy brought her family members and friends together on a weekly basis with roast and all the fixings. “Maw Maw Joy Day” as the great-grandkids renamed Sundays. A tradition she was so very proud of. Joy, our Rock, you lived such a fantastic full life, and we are so thankful we had so many years of enjoying you, your stories, your sass, your silly smiles, and most of all your Love; but still, We Love You More. Special Thank You to Mrs. Georgina Parker for all of the support and love you showed for Joy during your care for her. Truly, you have been such a support to all of us, and the whole family thanks you so very much. Thank You also to Heart of Hospice for your guidance, advice, and help throughout the last few months.
