Josephine Barcelona Melanson entered eternal rest on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Claude Melanson, Sr. for 26 years. Daughter of the late Giovanni Barcelona and Concetta Chimento Barcelona. Loving and devoted mother of Darleen Perez (Ralph), Claude Melanson, Jr. (Debbie) and Darren Melanson (Donna). Beloved grandmother of Mandy, Shane, Andrew, Kristin, Rebecca and Dalton. Great Grandmother of Claudia, Micah, Madison, Gaige, Nina, Rowen and Aleister. Great Great Grandmother of Ava, Lydia and Sutton. Beloved sister of the late Rosalie Dixon, Tudy Bridges and Maria Dominick. Josephine is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was born in Alia Sicily, Italy and lived in Marrero, Louisiana for 75 years. She was the Head Chef at the Four Columns in Harvey, Louisiana for over 30 years. She loved to sew, read and cook; but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Josephine was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, Louisiana on Saturday, April 18, 2026, beginning at 9AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana on Saturday at 1:30PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, Louisiana.
