Joseph Henry Weathers, Jr.

Joseph Henry Weathers, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on November 30, 1940.

He is the father of Heather Weathers; father-in-law of Jason Chaffin; the brother of Julie Spiers, Carroll Weathers, and the late George Weathers; and the long-time companion of Rita Gros. He was born to the late Hazel and Joseph Weathers Sr. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful lifelong friends.

A native of New Orleans, and resident of Metairie. Joseph graduated from New Orleans Academy High School, in 1959. After high school he attended William and Mary College followed by U.N.O. and earned his bachelor's degree in History. Joseph began his professional career as a photographer and surveyor in the Shipping industry. Joseph was successful and well respected as a surveyor in the New Orleans area.

Joseph was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time making model airplanes. He was an avid and dedicated aviation historian. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. Joseph was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

His spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
