Lewis- Joseph (Bob)Robert Lewis died Saturday, November 23, 2024 after a brief illness. He was 91.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Marrero, LA. After graduating from Marrero High School, Bob earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from LSU, Baton Rouge, LA. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Junction City, Kansas. Bob received an honorable discharge in 1958 and returned to Marrero where he worked for Dresser Industries until he retired at the age of 57. He continued to dabble in different things after retirement which kept him busy for the next 34 years. Bob was an avid golfer and achieved 3 hole-in-ones over his career. It was a great day on the course when he golfed his age. He played cards twice a week with men his same age for over 40 years and joked about not knowing if they would play each week since they were all in their 90’s so it was hard to know who would be well enough to participate. He had his breakfast group that would meet once a week to solve the world’s problems. He was a strong MAGA supported and avid LSU fan. He was all about sports- all sports especially LSU.
Bobby Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, June Mendoza Lewis. He has two sons Joseph (Joe or Joey) Robert Lewis, Jr. (Darlene) and Troy Lewis (Bonnie). He has one daughter Dawn Lewis D’Angelo (Michael) who was the apple of his eyes.
