Joseph A. Bellanger Jr. passed away on October 25, 2024 at the age of 72 years. Beloved husband of Jennifer DeMaranville Bellanger. Father of William J. Bellanger (Steven Pardee). Brother of the late Brenda and Linda Bellanger. Son of the late Jeanne Brady Bellanger and Joseph Arthur Bellanger Sr. Also survived by other loving relatives and many friends.
Joseph Bellanger will always be remembered by his friends and family as either Joe or Mr. Joe. He was born and raised on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish in Westwego, Louisiana. His childhood was spent the same as anyone growing up in the 1950s. Joe graduated for West Jefferson High School. He played baseball for the WJ Buccaneers and polished his musical skills thru his time playing in the band. He met Jennifer in his band classes when her family moved to Jefferson Parish. Shortly after their graduation, they would marry and celebrate over 50 years of marriage. William was born and became the center of their life. Joe also played music professionally with many of our well-known Jazz musicians.
Over the years, Joe developed friendships with a large number of people. Joe was an original member of Yellow Moon Singers and extremely active in his community. He would always answer your call and volunteer whenever he was needed. Joe embodied the phrase "cheerful service." Joe was a dedicated firefighter, trainer and Scouter. As a Scouter, Joe was a Vigil Honor Member and Associate Lodge Adviser for the Chilantakoba Lodge, Order of the Arrow, Southeast Louisiana Council, Scouting America. Joe was also the longtime Scoutmaster of Troop 18 in Westwego and wore many hats over the years in Cataouatche District. One of the positions he truly enjoyed was serving as the district’s Eagle Board Chairman.
