Joseph John "Johnny" Amedio, Jr.

On Monday December 29, 2025, Joseph John “Johnny” Amedio Jr. was called home at the age of 64. Johnny was born December 3, 1961, and was a life-long resident of the Westbank. During his lifetime Johnny was a jack of all trades.

Joseph John “Johnny” Amedio Jr. is survived by his four siblings Cathy Chaisson, Norean Rojas, Sheila Mahl (Michael) and Lawrence Amedio Sr. (Cheryl). Son of the late Jospeh John Amedio Sr. and Ada Pamela Otero Amedio. Johnny is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends including his previous spouse Joelle Amedio (Scott). Johnny’s pride and joy was his only godson, Lawrence Amedio Jr., who he adored more than anyone else in this world. He is very proud of the young man Lawrence is today and will always be with him.

Throughout his life Johnny was always caring and embodied the spirit of being giving and selfless. Johnny was always the first person to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. During the 2005 Hurricane Katrina recovery, Johnny felt the call to help his local community by starting a small business, You Call We Haul, to aid hurricane cleanup. Johnny’s hobbies included fishing, collecting antiques, and watching the New Orleans Saints.

Johnny will be greatly missed by his siblings, family, and friends, especially those at Bayside Healthcare Center. The family invites all to attend his visitation and funeral on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at St. Martha Catholic Church 2555 Apollo Drive in Harvey from 9AM until 11AM (visitation) with a Funeral Mass at 11AM and burial at Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum in Avondale to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Martha Catholic Church.
