Joni Panepinto Bathel

Joni Panepinto Bathel passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the age of 64. Beloved wife of David Bathel for 40 years. Mother of Blake Bathel (Eric) and Brice Bathel (Amber). Daughter of Bea Panepinto and the late John Melvin Panepinto. Sister of Sam Panepinto (Libby), Nancy Panepinto Clay, John Panepinto, Jr. (Tammy), and Steven Panepinto (Jill). Grandmother of Mackenzie Bathel and Andrew Delaune. Godmother of Markell Currault-Holmes, Amber Rand, Jacob Ducote and the late Michael Foley.  Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She worked for Entergy for 40 years and was a very active member of her community having been Vice President of GEDA, Gretna Economic Development Association, in 2020 and then President in 2021 and 2022. She was Secretary of the Rotary Club of the Westbank in 2021 and Community Chair in 2022 and 2023. She was a graduate of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 Sixth Street, Gretna, LA on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 1pm.
