Jonathan “Johnny” Paul Ducote, a lifelong resident of Gretna, LA passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the age of 64, surrounded by his loving family.
He shared 41 years of marriage with the love of his life, Deborah “Debbie” Sinclair Ducote. A love story that began in grammar school and blossomed into a lifetime of laughter, faith, and steadfast devotion. Together they built a beautiful family, raising two daughters, Megan Elise Ducote (Thomas), and Halie Leann Ducote, and their cherished granddaughter, Kinley Elizabeth Steel, who was the joy of his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn Luke Ducote and Nay-Dee Ortego Ducote, his sisters Claudia Spiess (Donald) and Lois Norton (Robert), and his brother Luke Ducote. He is survived by his sister-in-law Joan “Peaches” Ducote, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
Professionally he served as the Network Administrator of the Regional Planning Commission and retired after 33 years. His commitment to public service also extended to the Gretna Police Department, where he worked in an IT capacity and designed the department’s badge, patch, and car decals in 1996; emblems that continue to reflect his pride in his community.
Relatives and friends of the family, along with his brothers from Germania Lodge #46 F&AM, and the Gretna Police Department are invited to attend visitation and services on Monday, October 20, 2025 at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway in Harvey, LA. Public visitation will be from 9:00am – 11:00am, with a prayer service to follow. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery.
