John Anthony Stipelcovich

John Anthony Stipelcovich entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Linda Ballay Stipelcovich for 60 years. Son of the late Vlaho “Frenchie” Stipelcovich and Catherine Crnjak Stipelcovich. Loving and devoted father of Christy Stipelcovich (Keith Rogers). John is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He worked hard all of his life in the seafood industry as an oyster and shrimp fisherman, oyster dealer, soft shell crab processor and restaurant owner. He was involved in the Plaquemines Oyster Association and Port Sulphur Jaycees. He loved fishing, crabbing, woodworking, drawing, painting and gardening. His legacy will live on in the many mementos, furniture and paintings he created which are all still cherished by his daughter, along with all the lessons he instilled. John loved all his pets, most recently the late Boomer, his buddy for the past 18 years and his “grandkit” Kitten which he called “Ralph”. John was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was a resident of New Orleans and Port Sulphur in his youth. He lived in Port Sulphur until 2007, resided in Jennings, Louisiana until 2026 and returned to Plaquemines Parish in July for recovery at Riverbend Nursing Facility. Special thanks go to the ICU nurses at Ochsner Westbank for their kindness and care in his final days. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28698 LA-23, Port Sulphur, LA on Thursday, September 17, 2026, beginning at 10AM until 12PM. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Thursday at 12PM. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Port Sulphur, Louisiana.
