John V. Serpas, Jr., peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at age 93. He was born on October 6, 1923. Beloved husband of Cathy Morgan Serpas. Son of the late John V. Serpas, Sr. and Mary Rolfes Serpas. Father of John V. Serpas, III (Toni), and Gayle S. Klein (Robert). Grandfather of Robyn K. Miltenberger (Chris) and Jeffery V. Serpas (Monique). He was also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. Brother of Roy Serpas Sr., Robert Serpas, Sr. and the late Raymond "Moon" Serpas Sr. He was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Covington, LA for over 30 years. John was a U.S. Army WWII (Battle of the Bulge) Veteran having served in the 739th Medium Tank Battalion Special Mine Exploders and a Korean War veteran having served in the 70th Tank Battalion. He achieved the rank of Sergeant 1st Class and Tank Commander. He was a leader in the casket industry for over 76 years. His greatest passion in life was his family, friends and baseball. He was drafted into the AAA Baseball League and played as a pitcher for the Greenville Lions. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 North Marigold Drive, Covington, LA (corner of Hwy 21 and Marigold Drive). Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until 10:30am. Interment, Lakelawn Park Mausoleum.
