JoAnn Silva Spindler

JoAnn Silva Spindler, a New Orleans native and Terrytown resident, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the age of 84. Loving and devoted wife of 64 wonderful years to Frank C. Spindler, Jr. Daughter and Step-Daughter of the late Mildred Schulz Hardouin and John F. Hardouin. Loving and devoted mother of Julie A. Spindler and Cheryl S. Dobson (Ernest). Grandmother of Marlena Monsour (Joshua), Chris Winter, Jr. (Kelly), Darryl Winter (Holly), Jacob Dobson, Rebecca Dobson, Eric Dobson and Jessica Winter. Great Grandmother of Justin and Athena Monsour and Aubree and Harlee Winter. Beloved sister of Elaine Hardouin Landauer (the late David), Jean Ann Hardouin Cedatol (Emmet) and the late Alan John Silva. JoAnn is the beloved Aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of McDonogh High School (Class of ’59) where she was an avid athlete, playing softball, skating, pep squad, and her favorite, bowling. She bowled in many leagues throughout the years, including “The Slick Chicks”, “The Wildcatters”, and “Carter Cuties”. After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life on April 8, 1961, and worked for a few years before deciding to take on a new role as a mother in 1964. She believed there was much beauty to see here in the United States and enjoyed road-tripping over many years to see a total of 38 states. Alongside traveling around the States, she thoroughly enjoyed taking cruise ships with her family to the Caribbean and Alaska. She took her roles as a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother as her highest priority, truly making her family feel loved and welcome. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10AM until 12:45PM. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 12:45 and the Funeral Mass will begin at 1PM.
