Jim Robert Martin

Jim Martin passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Charley Martin for 52 years. Father of Dr. Jeanne Marie Martin, Dr. James Martin (Gina Occhipinti), Leon Miller (Jennifer), and William Miller. Son of the late Rose and Robert Martin. Brother of Robert Martin, Jr. (Susan), Melanie Orgeron (the late Gary), Ginny Sue Dufrene (Jay), and Maria Landry. Grandfather of Ben, Emily, Thomas, and Patrick. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He was a Jesuit Blue Jay, Class of 1968 and a U.S. Navy Veteran, and he held national offices with AMVETS.  He was a lifelong musician who founded the Majestics Band at the age of 15 and was inducted into the Westwego Music Hall of Fame; he played with the Oak Alley Band for over 20 years. He owned the Jim Martin CPA firm, which he founded in 1981.  He was a member of the Westwego Rotary Club and a member of NOMA.  He was a lifelong resident of the Westbank and a friend to everyone he met. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2555 Apollo Ave: Harvey, LA, on Friday, June 30, 2023, at noon. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the church from 9 am until 12 noon. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
