Obituary

Jean Ballay Hardouin passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born in Gretna, Louisiana, on July 31, 1930 to the late Frances and Theodore Ballay.

She is the wife of the late Ralph C. Hardouin; the sister of the late Eunice Camus, Nelita Bergeron, and Vernon Ballay; and the aunt of Juel Bourgeois, Dale Bergeron, Janice Boudreaux, and Vernon Ballay, Jr. She is also survived by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.

A native of New Orleans, and a resident of New Orleans. Jean graduated from Martin Behrman High School. She began her career as a telephone operator and worked in that industry until she retired. Jean was successful and well respected in her career in the New Orleans area.

Jean was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. She enjoyed cake decorating and flower arranging and many other crafts.  She enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends. Jean was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by the staff at the Suites at Algiers Point, and the staff at Hospice Specialists.

In lieu of flowers please kindly consider contributions in memory of Jean Hardouin to St. Jude Children's Hospital, and to the World War II Museum. 

The funeral services will be held privately at a later date.
