Janet Hidalgo Villavaso

Janet T. Villavaso died on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the age of 79. Born in 1937 to the late Allen and Ella Hidalgo and sister of the late Beverly Jambon, Janet graduated from Holy Name of Mary High School in 1955 and lived in Gretna, LA.  In addition to being a devoted and loving mother, she worked supporting medical staffs at Baptist, St. Charles General and Children’s Hospital.
Above all, Janet loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed painting, traveling abroad and caring for animals. She volunteered her time and talents to help others at hospitals and was devoted to her parish church.
Janet was married to the late Hugh C. Villavaso for 25 years.  She is survived by her son Darrin C. Villavaso, daughter Wendy M. Cartozzo (husband Mark), son Brian H. Villavaso (wife Michelle) and her grandchildren Evan and Hannah Cartozzo and Morgan and Luke Villavaso who brought her great joy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at 9:30am and a funeral mass at 11:00am Saturday May 13, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 610 6th Street, Gretna, LA, 70053. Interment at Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ASPCA.
