James Wallace Lowry August 25, 1934 - December 21, 2025 James Wallace Lowry, better known to his family and friends as J.W. or Jay passed away on December 21, 2025 at the age of 91. He was the beloved husband and best friend to his late wife, Mary Robbie Lowry, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Father of Annette Dupuis (husband, Russell), Christina James (husband, Kenny), Deborah Gaudin (husband, Daniel), and Jayna Guidry (husband, Kevin). Grandfather of Blanche Smith (husband, Joshua), Paige Sobiesk (husband, Logan), Maddie James, Allie James, Gabrielle Cox (husband, Dylan), Jude Mundschenk (husband, Timothy), James Guidry (wife, Jessica Farizo), Alec Guidry (wife, Anne Vullo) and Hana Livaudais (husband, Justin). Great Grandfather to Emma, Ruby, Freya, Rowan, Sawyer, Finley, Griffin, Scarlett, Luke, Ava, Mary Grace, and the soon-to-be great-granddaughter Charlotte. Son of the late Lloyd and Ruby Lowry. Brother to his late sisters, Dorthy Sorrels (Lester), Margie Toney (Ralph), and Jean Colligan (Joe). A native of Port Sulphur, Louisiana, J.W. resided there until Hurricane Katrina after which he and his wife then moved to Carriere, Mississippi where he passed away peacefully in his home. During his years of living in Port Sulphur he worked for Freeport Sulphur Company later known as Freeport-McMoRan and retired after 40 years of dedicated service. In his free time and especially after retirement, J.W. loved traveling across the United States with his wife. He also had a deep love for the outdoors. Fishing, trawling, hunting squirrels, rabbits, ducks, and deer, as well as tending to his orange grove, pecan field, and vegetable gardens gave him great joy. He will be missed by many although his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, December 26, 2025 at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana from 1:00-1:30PM. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home in the chapel at 1:30PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana.
