James "Flash" LaHaye, of Belle Chasse, LA died peacefully on December 19, 2022 from cancer at 82 years of age. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
James is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years Nancy Barrier LaHaye. He has one daughter Jemi LaHaye Carlone (Walton) and two granddaughters, Kaylee and Kendall. He is also survived by his brother, Donald LaHaye (Janet). He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred J. LaHaye and Augustine Devillier LaHaye, and two brothers, Carl and Charles LaHaye. He was also a very close brother-in-law to Anne Meier (Bob), Katherine "Kitty" Westbrook (Slim), and Rebecca Brasell (Bob) as well as many nieces and nephews.
James was born on March 4, 1940 and joined the Air Force at the age of twenty. He worked for Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads as a switchman/conductor for 37 years. He enjoyed playing country music gigs around the city and he played six different instruments, all by ear. He also enjoyed playing bourre, eating oysters, going to the casino, and traveling with family and friends.
