James Doyle Brewer, Jr. born in Canton, MS on May 19, 1931, passed away on November 17, 2020, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Landry Brewer of 33 years. Son of the late James D. Brewer and Katherine Seater Brewer. Brother of late Mary Jo Robinson. Dedicated father of Trude Brewer France (Eric) and Lisa Katherine Brewer. Adoring grandfather of Eric France (Jenna) and Greg France (Jennifer). Doting great-grandfather of Benjamin. Predeceased by the late Mildred Case Brewer. James is survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends. James was a devout Catholic who grew up in Canton, MS, and attended Campion Jesuit High School in Wisconsin and later Notre Dame University. Instead of playing professional baseball, he joined the Marine Corp and went on to be a Naval Pilot and retired from Waterman Steamship Company. James was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast, and closely followed New Orleans Saints football & Notre Dame sports. What James enjoyed most in life were his daily talks with his daughter Lisa, eating the sweets his daughter Trude baked, and talking sports and telling stories to his grandsons Eric & Greg. Relatives and Friends of Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 1 PM. Interment Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Westwego, LA. Visitation will be held From 11:30 AM until funeral time.
