Jacob Louis Massi, born on November 7, 1996, in Hammond, Louisiana, left this world far too soon on October 5, 2025. Jacob was a dedicated soul, a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, remembered for his warm spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering loyalty to those lucky enough to have known him.
Jacob was a graduate of DeRidder High School, he was currently attending NTCC, majoring in IT and Computer Technology. He received an invitation, just days following his passing, to join the NTCC Honor Society—an achievement that would have made him immensely proud.
Throughout his life, Jacob was loved. As a child, he was described as a beautiful and happy baby who was inseparable from his big brother, Jon. Together, they shared countless adventures, memories deeply embedded in the hearts of their family. He loved his Tickle Me Elmo and Cookie Monster toys and watching the "Tubbytubbies" as he called them.
Jacob was inherently selfless; he showed immense loyalty to friends and family alike. He cherished the time spent with his father, Chris, as they bonded over football games, car repairs, and time spent together creating shared memories. He was protective of his mother, Monique, checking in on her through the day, always asking when she was leaving and what time she would be home. Their cooking sessions, bargain shopping adventures, and shared Sundays basking in the glory of Saints football were treasures he held dear.
As an uncle, Jacob beamed with pride for his niece, Ivy, and nephew, Isaac. He cultivated a close relationship with Ivy. They grew up together, reminiscent of a big brother caring for his little sister. Conversations with Isaac flowed easily, fueled by their mutual fascination with technology. Jacob had a knack for sprinkling magic into their Christmas traditions, sharing movie nights and concocting his special hot chocolate that warmed hearts in more ways than one. He was a hero to his younger cousins, Garrett and Evy. He excitedly helped them track Santa on Christmas Eve, embodying the true essence of childhood wonder.
An avid lover of sports, Jacob lived and breathed New Orleans Saints football. He reveled in playing video games like Madden with his friends, embracing the camaraderie that came with it. He loved playing Peewee football when he was younger. His talent was obvious, and he was invited to play Jr. Arena Football with the Lake Charles Swashbucklers. His love for fishing provided him with serene moments of reflection, where he found peace and connection with nature. Recently, he had also discovered peace in his faith, making strides to nurture his spiritual journey.
The world feels much dimmer without the radiant energy Jacob brought into it. In eternal salvation, he joined his cherished grandparents, Stanley Louis Jr. and Barbara Juneau Sutherland, Michael John and Gloria Hebert Massi, his "little brother" Marik Tucker, and beloved dog, Reggie, who he named after Reggie Bush.
Jacob is survived by his beloved family: his father, Christopher Michael Massi; his mother, Monique Sutherland Massi; his brother, Jonathan and sister-in-law, Glenda; his niece, Ivy; his nephew, Isaac; his Godfather, Kevin Tassin; his Godmother, Patricia Burns Black; his aunts, Stacy Sutherland Tassin and Veronica Massi; and his uncle, Anthony Massi and wife, Patti. He also leaves behind a cherished circle of cousins, including Garrett Tassin, Evan Tassin, Michael Pruett, Brian Pruett, and James Babb.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Massi, Evan Tassin, Garrett Tassin, James Babb, Josh Gilmore, and Joshua Miley. Honorary pallbearers are AJ and Christian Vacaro.
In honor of Jacob's enduring love for the Saints, all are invited to wear Saints attire or anything black and gold at the upcoming services, which will take place on October 10, 2025, at Marrero - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC.
