Jack S. Russo

Jack S. Russo was born February 6, 1926 in Houma and died on Friday, January 26, 2024 at approximately 7:23PM at the Slidell Memorial Hospital, Slidell, Louisiana.  Age 97 and was looking forward to his 98th birthday, which he still had a brilliant mind, cooked fantastic food, did all of his personal business, shopped and drove.  He was looking forward to playing golf again after he hurt his shoulder.   Beloved husband to Patricia Rader Russo who passed in 2010.  Father to Kristine Russo Ronquille (Alvin) and his passed children, Michael A. Russo, Jack “Sunny” Russo, Tina Russo Favalora and Terrie A Russo.  Son of the late Jack C. Russo and Lucy Taulli Russo; and his late sisters, Rita and Chetta Mae Russo.  Jack is survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, Samantha Ronquille Green mother of Kaitlyn K. Green and Braedon C. Conway; Melissa Russo Zamora mother to Angelina Zamora and Ray Zamora; Jack J. Russo father to Ally Russo; Patricia Russo Seagraves mother of Tristian Seagraves and Alyssa Marie Lopez (Brandon) Robertson with their sons, Julian and Roman Robertson.  

In June 1943 to April 1946 he received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy.  On the U.S.S. Chandler DMS9, R/S Pearl Harbor, T.H. he was given the Victory Ribbon on April 24, 1944; Commendation of B.H. Car Lieutenant YSNR, direction of C.O., Asiatic Pacific Ribbon (6 stars), Philippines Liberation Ribbon (2 Stars).

Jack was employed by J. Ray McDermott and International; he retired in 1983 as the General Superintendent of Pipeline Division working all over the world.  

He retired to developing 250 acres in Mississippi, breeding Black Angus then crossed breeding with Braham Bulls.  They were called Brangus and were the first to start this breed of cattle.  

He lived a full life with flying, playing golf, cooking, fishing and hunting around the country.

Visitation and Funeral Services were held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, February 3, 2024.   The family will have a private burial at a later date.  Family and friends may offer condolences at mothefunerals.com
