Deacon J. Vernon Insley Jr.

Deacon J. Vernon Insley Jr. passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the age of 81. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 45 years, Inez Insley. He is the loving father of Denise Butera ( Gary), Diane Deroche ( Daryl), R. Simon Insley ( Elizabeth), Brian Insley ( Leona), Barry Insley ( Lori). He is loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren, Heather Butera, Kimberly Butera, Danielle Berthelot ( Brad), Desiree Jewell ( Jason), Dilaney Deroche, Timothy Insley, Sarah Kate Insley, Nicholas Insley, Ami Insley, Josh Insley. Step- grandfather of Cara Vandenberg. Great grandfather of Hope Berthelot, Aiden Jewell, Audrey Jewell, Andrew Jewell. He is also survived by devoted friend, Casta Sage, other family and friends. Deacon Vern was a retired Chemical and Safety Engineer with Monsanto Chemical Company. He was a longtime Deacon with the Arch Diocese of New Orleans. Deacon Vern received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He also earned a Masters Degree from University of Dayton. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a dedicated Deacon and a great man whose insightful sarcasm and humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Visitation on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5:00 PM-9:00 PM at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 13, 2017 beginning at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 Noon at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 329 S. Jamie Blvd., Avondale, LA. Interment Lorraine Park Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland.
