Irene Short

Irene Short was born on July 20, 1939 and passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 at the age of 84 years.
Beloved wife of 64 years to Edward Short. Mother of Edward Short Jr. (Melinda), Michael Short, and Melissa Scheu. Grandmother of Brandon Ryan, T.J. Scheu, Taylor and Savannah Short. Great-grandmother of Nola Susan Scheu.
She is preceded in death by her twin sister, Lorraine “Beede” Clipper, brother, Cyrus Ordoyne, and sister Gloria Ragas; parents, Elise Buras, Wallace Ordoyne and step-father, Herbert W. Buras.
She was born in New Orleans, LA, graduated from Buras High School, Class of 1958, and lived in Terrytown, LA for over 58 years. She worked as a teller for Delta Bank in Triumph, LA, worked for Plaquemines Parish Orange packing shed as a secretary and for the Times-Picayune newspaper. She was a licensed beautician.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 12noon to 3pm. A Memorial Service will follow.
