Helga M. Loerwald

Helga M. Loerwald, born on April 26, 1931, departed this life on August 18, 2026, at the age of 95. Her long life was marked by dignity, strength, and deep connections with those she loved.

Helga was predeceased by John “Red” W. Loerwald, husband of 30 years; mother Helene Makowski; son Kenneth Loerwald; brother Erich Manfred Nicklas (Marianne); and nephew Klaus Nicklas. She is survived by sons Ralph F. Loerwald (Wally) and Terry L. Loerwald (Deanna); grandchildren Brandi Foret (Douglas), Heidi Loerwald, Jennifer Loerwald, Jason Loerwald (Rachelle), Jared Loerwald (Kristen), Jonathan Jeanice (Amy), James Strahan (Angie), and Tara Thibodaux (Paul); great grandchildren Mason Dice, Emma Foret, Cole Foret, Kelsey Loerwald, Kayle Loerwald (Alaina), Rhett Loerwald, Jace Loerwald, Landry Jeanice, Rian Jeanice, Tyran Strahan, Trey Strahan, Sean Wilson, Kylee Thibodaux, Charles Thibodaux, and Carter Thibodaux; and great great grandchildren Kinsley Loerwald, Ava Strahan, and Gracyn Strahan.

Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Helga at Harvey - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC, located at 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA 70058, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Helga will be laid to rest at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., Terrytown, LA 70056, thereafter.

Her absence will be felt deeply, but her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
