Helen Danjean Kirby, age 94, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 30, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Algiers. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Carlos H. Kirby, Sr. She was the beloved daughter of the late Burnie A. Danjean, Sr. and Irma Daigle Danjean. She is survived by her loving daughter, Debra Kirby Breaux and son-in-law Oren Breaux, Jr. She is preceded in death by her son, Carlos H. Kirby, Jr. and daughter-in-law Juanita A. Kirby. She was the loving Maw Maw of Steven Kirby (Kristy), John Kirby, Melissa Ward (Zack), Ryan Breaux (Patti) and Kristy Duvernay (Brian).
She was also blessed with loving great-grandchildren, Brady Keller (Austin), Loryn Ward, Addisyn Ward, Ben Breaux, Luke Breaux, Evelyn Duvernay, Ella Duvernay, and Easton Duvernay. Helen was also survived by her beloved sister, Marion McDermott, and preceded in death by her siblings Burnie Danjean, Jr., Dolores McDonald, and Ernest Danjean, Sr. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-laws, Dorothy Kirby and Barbara Kirby, and brother-in-laws, Casmer Kirby, Sr. and Raymond Kirby. She was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many loving friends. Helen was a devout Catholic and a lifelong Parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Algiers. She was a member of Sages. Helen was loved by many friends who she enjoyed spending time with while playing poker keno, boncos, canasta, and cards. She enjoyed monthly casino bus trips and luncheons at New Orleans Ladies Ballroom. She looked forward to her Friday hair appointments by Linda's and then to lunch and cards with friends. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends who she loved so much, and she will remain in our hearts forever.
Her daughter, Debra, would like to thank Dr. Stein for the care she gave to her Mom all these years. She would also like to thank Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Gayle and Angel, for the wonderful care and love they gave to her Mom. In lieu of flowers, masses would be preferred.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Algiers, LA on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 9 AM until Funeral Mass time at 11 AM.
