Harriette Brownell Charles

Following a brief illness, Harriette Brownell Charles passed away on February 11, 2023,
two weeks before her 84th birthday. Her father – Harry C. Brownell, mother – Almetta
Burdeneve Brownell, and beloved husband of 56 years Gary J. Charles, preceded
Harriette in death.
Survivors include two sons – Michael and Greg, daughters-in-law – Patty and Tonia,
four grandchildren – Brandon, Brooke, David, and Sara, her sister – Sylinda Brownell
Ward, sister-in-law – Mary Peperone Charles, and many other loving family members
and friends.
Harriette was a native of Gretna, LA and a longtime resident of Pass Christian, MS.
In lieu of flowers, please offer masses for Harriette and Gary at Our Mother of Mercy
Catholic Church in Pass Christian.
Rev. Michael Vu will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday,
April 1, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 610 6th Street in Gretna, LA,
where family and friends may gather from 9:00-10:30. Interment will follow at Westlawn
