Hai Van Quach, 72, of Gretna, Louisiana, passed away on September 6, 2026. Born on January 12, 1954, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Ha Quach and Hien Thi Quach, Hai lived a life defined by resilience, hard work, and profound kindness.

A veteran of the South Vietnamese Army, Hai served with honor during the Vietnam War. Following the war, he bravely embarked on a new chapter as a refugee, coming to the United States and building a beautiful life for his family. He spent most of his career working as a ship welder in Louisiana, where his strong work ethic and dedication were evident to all who knew him.

Faith and community were true cornerstones of Hai's life. He was a devoted member of St. Agnes Le Thi Thanh Catholic Church, where he generously volunteered his time, always ready to lend a helping hand and provide quiet, steadfast support to the Sunday School.

Beyond his work and faith, Hai was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved cheering on the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints, a passion he joyfully shared with his children, Jim and Julie. When he wasn't watching football, soccer, or golf, he could often be found enjoying his favorite action films and classic Western movies.

Above all else, Hai cherished his family. He took immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, Jacques and Juliette. One of his most beautiful legacies is the love of music and dancing he instilled in his grandson, Jacques, by teaching him how to dance—a gift that Jacques carries with him today.

Hai will be remembered as an exceptionally kind soul who never hesitated to extend a helping hand to family, friends, and even strangers in their time of need. He leaves behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and extraordinary generosity.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Giap Thi Vu; his children, Jim and Julie; his cherished grandchildren, Jacques and Juliette; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
