Gustave "Buddy" Lore, Jr. passed away on June 25, 2023, at the age of 71 in New Orleans, La. He was a lifelong resident of Algiers. Buddy possessed an easygoing nature. He was insightful, dependable and a fiercely loyal man with a wonderful wit. He was a devoted son and brother, a loving husband and father, a proud Papa, and a respected coach, and friend. Buddy is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen Talbot, his cherished children: Jamie (Gabe), Evan (Jennifer), Kristen (Jason), and his siblings: Ricky (Season), Nancy (Patrick), Dennis, Katie, and Ann. He was also a proud grandfather to Riley, Kaley, Vincent, Violet, Tavi, Christian, and Owen, an uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, and a cousin to many. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Mary Kassing Lore and Gustave Joseph Lore, Sr., brother David, and sisters JoAnn and Jane.
He maintained many lifelong friendships with classmates who attended Martin Behrman High School. He attained a BS in Accounting and embarked on his career working for Reagan Equipment Co., then International Terminal Operators. He worked for many years in radio as an accounting and business manager for Sinclair Broadcasting of New Orleans. During his 17 years with Metairie Park Country Day School, he also coached baseball and football. Buddy was an avid golfer who played many of the courses in and around New Orleans and various courses throughout the country. He loved golfing with his brothers, nephews and friends. He had a passion for working with kids and helping them to develop their athletic potential. He possessed endless energy as a coach with the Algiers Babe Ruth League at Skelly-Rupp Park. He volunteered for many years working at equestrian events for Cascade Stables and over 30 years at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival working and managing the Algiers Sports Booster Club booth.
Services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Holy Name of Mary Church, 400 Verret St., New Orleans, LA 70114. Visitation from 9-11 am with a memorial mass to follow. Burial will take place at McDonoughville Cemetery.
