Gussie Paul Hebert Jr.

December 30, 1941 — February 16, 2017

Gussie Paul Hebert, Jr., of Marrero, LA, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the age of 75. He is preceded in death by his father, Gussie P. Hebert, Sr., his mother, Catherine Bourg Hebert; and his sister Jacqueline M. Hebert. He is survived by numerous extended family. He is a graduate of West Jefferson High School and Northeast LA State University. He served in the U.S. Army in intelligence and retired from Schwegmann Giant Supermarkets in 1997. He will be remembered as a devout caregiver, a world traveler, a gentleman, and a kind soul. The family would like to commend the members of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, Second District, the 911 Operators, associated EMS personnel, and the doctors and staff at University Medical Center ER and Trauma Intensive Care Unit for their rapid and thorough response to our crisis. A special thanks goes to Ms. Debra Guidroz, Chaplain of UMC, and to Father Tom, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, for their spiritual support. His family would also like to thank his neighbors, Mike and Erica Sanders, and his friends, John and Linda Hourcade, for their devotion to Gussie. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gussie's life on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Rosalie Catholic Church in Harvey. A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9am until 11am followed by the Memorial Mass and interment in McDonoghville Cemetery in Gretna.
