Gregory "Greg" Leonard Cannella

November 22, 1963 — April 7, 2022

Gregory “Greg” Leonard Cannella was born November 22, 1963, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Greg departed this life on April 7, 2022 at the age of 58 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones, who will continue to honor his life and legacy by enjoying the simplest things in life.
Greg completed his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Southeastern Louisiana University. Years later, received his Certified Public Accounting license from the University of New Orleans. He worked for Avondale/Huntington Ingalls for 32 years. Although he took pride in his career, his true passion was trawling. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy. He loved spending quality time with family and friends. Greg’s witty personality was contagious to everyone he met. His faith in God was an inspiration to many. Greg was the beloved husband and best-friend of Bonnie Gautreaux Cannella for 28 years. Father of Amanda Leigh Cannella (Parker), Kyle Scott Cannella (Hannah) and his puppy Elleigh Sue Cannella. Loving son of Herman “Pete” Cannella and the late Shirley B. Cannella. Brother of Diane C. St. Germain (Marty), the late Patricia C. Pilie (Maurice), and Gary J. Cannella (Jane). Son-in-Law of Charles A. Gautreaux and the late Maggie H. Gautreaux. Brother-in-law to Cheryl G. Gaillot (Marty), Patricia G. Chaisson (Lawrence), Maureen G. Chaisson (Charles), and Charles A, Gautreaux Jr. (Brandi). He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to our parish priest Father G. Amaldoss for great comfort and peace during this difficult time. Greg will be dearly missed but his memory will live on.
