Glenn Joseph Donewar

Glenn Joseph Donewar, a proud lifelong resident of Gretna, LA, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the age of 64. Beloved father of Blake Christian Donewar and father-in-law of Ashley Williams Donewar. Grandfather to his 2 beautiful grandsons, David Edward and Bennett Thomas Donewar. Son of the late Charles Gustave Donewar Jr. and Josephine Fradella Donewar. He is the brother of the late Charles Donewar III (Lynne) and survived by his brothers Frank Donewar and Jody Donewar (Sandra). He leaves behind his nieces Nicole Donewar Trentacosta (Perry) and Amber Donewar and nephews Brandon (Cortney), Charles Gustave IV (Christine), and Carl Michael (Tiffani) Donewar. He is also survived by his ex-wife, friend, and caretaker Sherri Christiana.

Glenn began his career in his teenage years working for LeRuth’s Restaurant as a waiter, where he gained his passion for fine dining and cooking fabulous meals. He later went on to work for Inland Seafood and New Orleans Fish House as a wholesale seafood sales representative. He also was a landlord with several properties in the City of Gretna. Glenn was an avid fisherman and loved being at the Donewar Camp, on the water in his boat, and always knew the hot spots for the fish in the Myrtle Grove area. He also loved playing dice, cards, and slot machines at the casino.

Family and friends are invited to his services on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 924 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA 70053, which will begin at 10 a.m. – Noon with a Mass following. Interment will be private at Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
