Glenda Sue Maddox Austin

Glenda Sue Maddox Austin, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Glenda was born on May 7, 1943, in Porterdale, Georgia, to the late Maxie Elizabeth Maddox and Levie Alvin Maddox. She was one of twelve children and was preceded in death by her grandsons, Paul James Becnel Jr. and Brandon Bernard. She is survived by her sister, Gail Lindsey.

Glenda was the beloved mother of Jennifer Austin (Richard), Sue Caracci (Vincent), and Connie Becnel (Paul).

She was a cherished grandmother to Ashley Adams (Ryan), Jarrod Johnson (Jenna), Sara Parker (Bryan), Jordan Sistrunk (Chris), Emily Brignac (Clay), and Nicole Darbonne (Spencer).

She was a proud great-grandmother to Makayla, Abigail, Madison, Cole, Camden, Hadley, Maddox, Grant, Grace, Rhys, Ezra, Taylor, Clark, Logan, Kane, and Beck.

Glenda dedicated many years of her life to working in the Georgia and Louisiana public school systems. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple things—sitting on her porch, spending time outdoors, gathering with family, and being surrounded by the people she loved.

Some of her most treasured memories were made in her wooden rocker, where she lovingly rocked her grandchildren. Family was at the heart of Glenda’s life, and she cherished every opportunity to bring everyone together. Above all, she loved being a Mamaw. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and the love she gave them will continue through the generations.

Glenda will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her memory will live on in the stories shared around family gatherings, in the traditions she created, and in the hearts of the children and grandchildren she loved so dearly.

A private family celebration of life will be held in her honor.
