Gertie Gautreaux Barrios

Gertie Gautreaux Barrios, 94, a native of Cut Off, LA and a 75 year resident of Harvey, LA passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 with family by her side. Gertie is survived by her son Dennis Barrios, daughter-n-law Jody Barrios, grandchildren Gary J. Barrios Jr. and Heidi Gavorcik, great-grandchildren Trinity Barrios, Hunter Barrios and Parker Foster as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest J. Barrios and her son Gary J. Barrios Sr.; her parents, Emile Gautreaux and Amy Chaisson Gautreaux; brothers Elfier, Harry, Cleveland, Louis and Eddie Gautreaux and sisters Bernice Vedros and Josephine Fonseca.
Gertie enjoyed reading and sitting outside to admire her many lovely plants. She started cooking at a very young age, loved to cook and was great at it. Gertie was a lifelong Catholic and attended Mass every day at St. Rosalie Church when she was able. She enjoyed talking with her longtime friend, Gloria Naquin. She loved her family, friends, and church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1:30 PM. Interment Hook & Ladder Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1:30 PM.
