Jerry W. Vollenweider

April 9, 1944 — January 4, 2026

Jerry W. Vollenweider entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the age of 81. Beloved spouse of Jude M. Vollenweider for 30 years. Loving father of Tracy L. Hatton (Eric), Kasey L. Ulm (David), Julie V. Branum (Sam), Eugene M. LaPouble and Peggy E. Vollenweider. Loving grandfather of Alexandra C. Hemphill (Micheal), Mia E. Costello, Michael E. Costello, III, Owen P. Hatton, Carter M. Hatton, Blake C. Hatton, Ethan C. Lentz, Emily H. Lentz, and Charlotte K. Ulm. Brother of Edward J. Vollenweider (Judy). Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, the late Jules J. Vollenweider, Jr. and the late Mary Rieger Vollenweider; his granddaughter, the late Victoria L. Costello; and his sister and brother-in-law, the late Patricia V. Burthe (the late Ronald). Jerry was a longtime active member of the American Legion Ed Brauner Post 307, Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club, and My Padnas. Jerry brought joy to everyone who knew him. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, he was born and raised in the Irish Channel. He graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1963. Jerry went on to serve in the United States Navy. Following his service, he graduated from Loyola University and worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement. He stayed connected with many of his Redemptorist classmates throughout the years. Jerry enjoyed cheering for the LSU Tigers, playing video poker at casinos and fishing with friends. He loved simple moments—laughing with family, sharing stories and making others feel welcome. Most important to Jerry were his family and friends. He was a proud grandfather, a caring dad, a loyal brother and friend and a loving husband. Jerry’s kindness and warmth will continue to shine through the people he touched.
