Geraldine "Gerry" Lew Brossette passed from this earth on Sunday, February 15th, surrounded by family.
Gerry was born on August 16, 1934, to Harold Michael Lew Sr. and Mildred Mickulich Lew. Gerry was the 2nd of 7 children and is survived by 2 brothers, Kenny Lew Sr. (Janice) and Patrick Lew, Sr. (Linda). Gerry married John "Jack" Brossette in 1952 and they began their lifelong journey together, still walking hand-in-hand until he passed away in 2016. She is survived by four children, Jacqueline Brossette Biles, John Brossette, Jr, Mark Brossette (Nina), Theresa Lew Brossette, 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Gerry had a successful career in banking and retired from Jefferson Financial Credit Union in 2020 at age 86. Gerry wanted to thank JFCU management and her co-workers for many fun-filled years. Her dearest friends included Joe Glorioso, who coifed her flaming red hair for 50+ years, and Robin Turner, who called her at least twice a day just to chat. Gerry enjoyed visits from her nephews (John, AJ & Nicky Gulizo) and her niece, Donna Gulizo Randazzo, who brought joy into her life - reminiscing of the old days. In addition, she was a proud Irish Channel native, supported the Irish Channel Corner Club, and was known to them as “the chili lady.”
Gerry’s service will be held on Thursday, 2/19, at Mothe’s Funeral Home (7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero) with Visitation from 9:30-11:30, followed by a Catholic Mass. Internment will take place at Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA.
The family would like to thank the Heart of Hospice staff, including Bridget, Ingra, Cindy, Crystal, and Kim for their compassion. We also thank Brittany Randazzo, best trauma nurse ever, and Amanda Macaluso and Eric Brossette for always being there for their Maw Maw.
All of Gerry’s family and friends are welcome to attend the services.
