Gerald “Fanfan” Fils was born on June 15, 1979, and peacefully passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Gerald, affectionately known as “Fanfan,” was known for his calm spirit, warm smile, and compassionate heart. He carried himself with dignity and treated others with kindness and respect. Whether through his words, his presence, or his willingness to help others, Gerald touched many lives and created lasting bonds with family and friends. In Haiti, Gerald worked in the banking industry at Sogebank, where he dedicated many years of service before moving to the United States in February, 2023 in pursuit of new opportunities and a brighter future for his family. After settling in New Orleans, he began working in the hospitality industry at the Marriott Hotel, where he continued to demonstrate his strong work ethic, professionalism, and warm personality that so many admired. He will be remembered as a devoted father, loving partner, loyal brother, and a source of encouragement to many. His love for family was evident in the way he cared for and supported those closest to him throughout his life. Gerald is survived by his beloved son, Yves Ryan Fils; his fiancée, Mirvienne Alexandre; his brothers, Emmanuel Fils, Didier Fils, and Jeanel Fils; his sister, Judith Fils; his sisters-in-law, Naromie C. Fils, Wislene Fils, and Pauline M. Fils; his cherished nieces and nephews, Victoria Fils, Anne C. Boursiquot, Jayla Fils, Isaiah Fils, Dylan Fils, and Marckley Fils; his beloved uncle, Bruno Fils; his aunts, Maude Fils, and Becia Fabre; and his dear cousins, Ronald Fabre, Josue Fabre, Frantzy Jacquet, and Nathalie Auguste. Though his passing leaves deep sorrow in the hearts of his loved ones, they find comfort in the memories shared, the laughter enjoyed, and the love that will never fade. Gerald’s spirit will continue to live on through all those whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 11am at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA. where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Gerald’s life. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7pm until 9pm. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. “Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in the hearts of everyone they touched.” May Gerald “Fanfan” Fils rest in eternal peace.
