Gerald R. Cookmeyer

Gerald R. Cookmeyer passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elise Cookmeyer; daughter, Dawn Boatwright and grandson, Joshua Rathburn. He was loving husband of Mary Ann Cookmeyer. He was devoted father of Kim Rathburn ( Ken), Sharon Soutullo ( Ken) and Angela Kass (Walter). He was grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Gerald was survived by beloved friend, Denise Dupree. He was also survived by numerous other family members and friends. Gerald was a retired Police Officer with Jefferson Parish Sherriff Office as well as New Orleans Police Department after many years of faithful and dedicated service. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Visitation on Saturday , December 31 , 2016 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel, Harvey, LA. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Michael’s Special School in New Orleans or the American Cancer Society.
