George Illoy Bacuetes, son of the late Victorino and Isabel G. Bacuetes, was born on March 24, 1950. On September 12, 2026, he joined the Lord after passing away peacefully in his home at the age of 76.
Raised in Algiers, he graduated from Martin Behrman High School. He spent a number of years residing in Gretna before moving to New Orleans Parish where he raised his daughter and lived until his passing.
He is survived by his daughter, Brooke Mary LaJaunie-Bacuetes (Christopher) and granddaughter, Merritt Ann-Marie Massey, and sister, Myrna Bacuetes.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Victor Bacuetes, Dalis Bacuetes, Alejandro Bacuetes, Hector Bacuetes, Teresa “T.C.” Buniff, Beatriz “Tita” Smith, Aida Wahl, and Isabel Bacuetes.
He was deeply loved by his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Name of Mary in Algiers Point on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Family and close friends are invited to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Louisiana SPCA and Wounded Warrior Project.
