Foster J. Dauzat Jr.

August 1, 1949 — August 2, 2025

Foster J. Dauzat Jr., born on August 1, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 2, 2025 at Thibodaux Regional Health System.

Foster graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1968. Shortly afterward, he proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1968 to 1974. He was a fierce defender of his country and spent many hours with friends and family discussing politics. His knowledge of what our country went through and concerns of where we were going ignited passionate conversations. Foster was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, riding horses, and training dogs. Despite being told by medical professionals to find a safer lifestyle other than working with horses and cattle, in true Foster style, he didn't listen, and spent many decades living out his dream of being a cowboy.

Foster was a survivor in all senses of the word. He approached so many of life's challenges as a fighter with a great sense of humor. He made light of every situation and never complained. He was a resilient man who always persevered despite battling several life altering illnesses. He instilled a 'don't give up' attitude and a 'stay strong' mindset in his children and grandchildren. His love for his family was unmatched, and so is the love that his family has for him.

Foster is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen Talamo Dauzat, and his devoted children: Chad Dauzat (Heidi), Shane Dauzat, Shannon Dauzat Arceneaux (Kent), and Tammie Dauzat Swanner (Victor). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Dustin Leray, Corey Dauzat (Natalie), Austin Arceneaux, Callie Dauzat, Blake Swanner, Brayden Swanner, and Isabella Dauzat. He treasured his great grandchildren: Ava Dauzat, Eloise Dauzat, and Everett Dauzat. Foster also leaves behind his brother, Roy Dauzat (Julie), sister, Dorothy Simon (Kerry), brother, Don Dauzat, brother, Ronnie Dauzat (Farrah), along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster J. Sr. and Dorothy Dauzat, and his in-laws, Anthony 'Buddy' and Blanche Talamo, as well as his sister-in-law, Mary Dauzat and his brother-in-law, Vincent Taravella.

Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Homes in Marrero, Louisiana, on August 9, 2025, starting at 11 A.M., followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:30 P.M. Interment will occur at Westlawn Memorial Park in Terrytown, Louisiana, at 2:45 P.M.
