Floyd “Butch” Maurice Wunstell, Jr., passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on November 27, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Butch was the beloved son of Floyd Maurice Wunstell, Sr. and Evelyn Bourg Seymour & Edward “Eddie” Seymour, his step-father. He was a proud graduate of West Jefferson High School, Class of 1966.Following high school, Butch answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He served honorably during the Korean conflict and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and Good Conduct Medal in recognition of his dedicated service. After completing his military service, Butch attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1975. He went on to enjoy a successful career in chemical sales, a profession in which he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Butch was blessed to marry the love of his life, Marion Persick. Together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He had a passion for traveling and found great joy in cheering on LSU and the New Orleans Saints. He was a proud supporter of the military and enjoyed photography, entertaining family and friends, collecting treasured items, and spending time with his beloved pets, who always held a special place in his heart. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Maurice Wunstell, Sr., Evelyn Bourg Seymour, Edward “Eddie” Seymour; his devoted wife, Marion Persick Wunstell; his daughters, Deborah and Cindy; and his cherished fur companion, Polly. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Michael (Meg), Joey, and Timmy; his half- sister, Gail Seymour Centanni; his loving special cousins, Barbara & Johnny Miranda, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him. The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, Louisiana 70058 on Thursday, July 2, 2026,at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9am until 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the SPCA or the Humane Society in Butch’s memory, honoring his lifelong love and compassion for animals. Though he will be deeply missed, Butch’s legacy of love, service, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
