Essie J. “E.J. / Porkchop” Babineaux of Gretna, LA passed away on June 10, 2017 at the age of 100 years. Beloved husband of the late Wilda Martin Babineaux. Son of the late Cecile Dugas Babineaux and Lusius Babineaux. Brother of the late Annie B. Bergeron, Uylesse, Albert, Easton and Anthony Babineaux. Step-father of Cindy Stapler Price. Grandfather of Ronald Price Jr. (Sandra), Rhonda Price Trosclair (Jason), Renie Price Schell (Billy), Stacie Shano and Belinda Rehm (Frank). Great-grandfather of Brooke Matherne, Bryce Schell, Bryan Schell, Seth Trosclair, Jaci Trosclair and Cecelia Price. Great-great-grandfather of Ashtyn Small. Uncle of Henry Bergeron and Cecile Kirby (Casmer). Godfather of Chelly Kirby Cross. Loyal friend of Richard and Carolyn Orgeron. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. He was a resident of Gretna, LA for many years.
E.J. served his country in the U.S. Army and later retired from Southern-Pacific Railroad. E.J. served as an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 80 years. He was a longtime member of David Crockett Vol. Fire Department No. 1 since 1946, Harvey Moose Lodge No. 2105, American Legion Post No. 222 and Ulysses Carnival Club. E.J. never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be sadly missed but his life and legacy will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 9 AM to 1 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Hook and Ladder Cemetery.
