Emmett John Richards

Emmett John Richards was born in Marrero, LA, on February 2, 2017, and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 8. He was surrounded by family and close friends during his final hours.

Emmett is the son of John Dylan Richards and Joycelyn Matherne Richards. He was the adored grandchild of “Lolli & Pop” Amy & John W. Richards III, Elton “Paw Paw” & Marie “Maw Maw” Matherne, and great grandmothers Myra B. Richards and Beverly Jagneaux. The nephew of “Nanny” Shae Richards, “Parran” Frankie Harelson, “Uncle Rusty” Rusty Matherne (KK - Catelyn Matherne), Elton Matherne III (Heather Cherry), and many loving cousins. He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Russell Jagneaux, Eula Granger, Betty Morvant, and his beloved Uncle Steve Morvant.

Emmett enjoyed being outside, deer hunting, fishing, camping, riding four-wheelers, riding his golf cart, and building Legos.

He loved to be surrounded by friends and family. Emmett truly adored his nurses and doctors at Manning Family Children’s Hospital, who are now his family, also.

His funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. The funeral Mass begins at 1:30 pm.

The celebration of his life will continue at The Auditorium in Lafitte, 4953 City Park St., Jean Lafitte, LA, starting at 3:00 pm.
