Elvin “Buddy” Hyatt, born January 19, 1950, passed away peacefully December 26, 2025 at the age of 75. Buddy was born at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and later made his home in Harvey, Louisiana. He valued education deeply and pursued it with determination and pride. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1972, followed by a Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Tulane University in 1975. He later completed his MBA at Tulane University in 1982, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning and professional growth. He was a member of the American Nuclear Society and served in many roles at Waterford III where he was employed for nearly 40 years.He is survived by his previous wife, Glenda Dufrene; previous wife Angela Glasoe, his stepson, Donald Bourg (m. April), Sydney Ashcraft (m. Caylem), Carter (m. Ashley); his sister, Eileen Hyatt Bloski; nephew, Michael Bloski (m. Kacy); his brother, Eddie Hyatt (m. Susan); nephew Dale Fitch; nieces Stephanie Harris & Jennifer Arms (m. Mackie). He was preceded in death by his father, Ebb Hyatt, mother, Kathleen Hardy Hyatt, and sister Kathy McCarthy. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA 70058. Viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Al-Anon in recognition of the pivotal role the organization played in Buddy’s life.
