Ellis Ray Doles

Ellis Ray Doles, a cherished member of the community, passed away on November 21, 2025, in Marrero, Louisiana. Born on March 29, 1938, in Bonita, Louisiana, he touched the lives of many through his kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering optimism.

Ellis earned a Master's degree to become a Guidance Counselor, through which he guided countless young minds. His commitment to education and supportive nature exemplified his desire to help others thrive. Alongside his professional endeavors, he proudly served in the Army Reserve, showcasing his dedication to his country.

Ellis had a deep passion for life, which was vividly displayed in his love for watching football, particularly his beloved New Orleans Saints. He derived immense joy from the game and shared many joyous moments with family and friends while cheering for his team. Additionally, he found pleasure in fishing, enjoying the peacefulness of the waters that paralleled his calm demeanor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Doles, his daughter, Beth Moore (Tom), son Jim Doles (Linda).The warmth of his legacy extends to his grandchildren: James, Keli,(Matt) Jessica(Jackson), Rebecca(Landon), and Gabrielle (Cooper), as well as his great-grandchildren: Elijah, Adele, Garrison, Colson, Camden Ellis, Beckett, Beau Ellis.

Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marion Doles, and his brother, Pat Doles. His family and friends remember him as a kind soul who never met a stranger, always ready with a smile and an open heart.

Visitation for Ellis Ray Doles will be held at Harvey - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC, located at 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA 70058, on November 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow on November 29, 2025, at Bonita Cemetery, located at 19704 LA-140, Bonita, LA 71223, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Ellis Doles leaves behind not only a loving family but also a legacy of compassion that will resonate in the hearts of many. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
